Child Protection and Safeguarding (Summary)

Our commitment

The safety and wellbeing of children is our top priority.  Calder Valley Dance Festival is committed to providing a fun, supportive, and secure environment where every dancer can thrive.

We want every dancer and family to feel welcome at Calder Valley Dance Festival. If you or your child have any accessibility or additional support needs, please contact us before the event so we can make appropriate arrangements.

Key principles

  • All children, regardless of background or ability, have the right to feel safe and respected.

  • Everyone working with us — volunteers, adjudicators, organisers — understands their safeguarding responsibilities.

  • We follow safer recruitment and reporting procedures.

  • Any concerns or incidents are taken seriously and handled promptly.

What to do if you have a concern

If you ever have a concern about a child’s welfare during our events, please speak to a festival organiser immediately or email caldervalleydancefestival@gmail.com (subject line “Safeguarding Concern”).

We work in line with the NSPCC and local safeguarding board guidance. A full safeguarding policy is available on request.
